One Step at a Time

Well you like to read and you read good books

I’ve read a couple myself

Hotel New Hampshire, Eugenie Grandet

Not bad for this little elf

‍

I wanted to know of you oh so badly

Didn’t see how we could meet

So I read your books and studied your looks

Now I wait for you to greet

‍

They say a picture one thousand words

I’ve said a thousand or two

So keep on shooting I’ll keep on rooting

In all of my dreams of you

‍

You see you are a spirit of inspiration

You are our dream come true

For the sad and dejected hope is reflected

In all of the shots you do

‍

And maybe one day if all goes well

If I don’t get hit by a bus

We’ll sit with mineral water’s for two

And all of it we’ll discuss

‍

First a thinker later a poet

Then a singer of doggerel rhyme

Like you my dreams grow little by little

I take it one step at a time
